I was very impressed by Worthing Hospital. All the surgeons I met were very kind, as were the breast care nurses. I am very thankful to Mr Ostrowski and Mr Betal, and the whole breast team, whose very quick action may have saved me from much worse surgery, and possibly saved my life.

I was at A&E with my wife and she was admitted for an emergency MRI. From the moment we arrived all staff were incredibly effective and efficient. Although busy we always knew what was happening and why and although she was moved, to make way for more urgent cases, that was done with care and attention and her involvement. Spotless wards and lovely staff, we are lucky with this as our local hospital.

I received fantastic care and treatment during all of my visits to the Breast Clinic and when I underwent surgery. My only suggestion for improvement is the need to ensure a multi-disciplinary meeting takes place before the next stage of treatment is agreed upon. After my wide local excision results were provided to the consultant, a multi disciplinary did not take place prior to my appointment with the consultant when I was advised that I would need a lymph node biopsy before any mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. The multi-disclpinary team then met and decided that the biopsy could take place at the same time as the other surgery. This was unfortunate although I totally appreciate the pressures on the NHs, it did cause me some anxiety.

The hospital dealt with the initial diagnosis of breast cancer in a swift and efficient manner. All the staff bar 1 were very caring and informative. The subsequent visits to the Chemo unit, if not exactly a joy were very close as the atmosphere was supportive, gentle and kind. Initially I was apprehensive going to this hospital as my husband had died there but with the care I received as stated above I have to say my concern evaporated very quickly. I feel comfortable going back for treatment.

The wait time is ridiculous, waited 5 hours! Just to be seen in extreme pain. It's just not okay

My whole diagnosis was dealt with very quickly from seeing the consultant to having the operation. All staff from nurses to surgeons were very friendly and put me at ease. The whole procedure was explained very clearly with the opportunity to ask questions given and answered. I was very impressed with the treatment I received and feel lucky to have such a good NHS.

Pre-op everything went very smoothly I did spend a very long time in Recovery as no bed was available This was the only time I felt staff were stressed Although I think ending up in the Orthopaedic Ward was not ideal but all the staff seemed to deal competently with the necessary procedures I particularly noticed the support given by senior staff to one or two who were clearly less experienced Considering the pressure caused by the financial restrictions on the NHS I think every one was doing a superb job I made 2 minor suggestions It would be sensible to have a notice indicating the the role of the wearers of the various colour uniforms and name tags -especially with so many elderly patients-should be larger PS I thought the quality and range of the food was far better then I expected
